Collaborative Construction

28 Nov

This morning Primary 7b were lucky enough to be visited by Robertsons Construction and Linda Jane from Construction Skills. Robertsons are working on a construction site next to our school where they are building new houses for some of the families in our community. Our visitors introduced themselves, explained their jobs and told us about the dangers of construction sites. We also learned a bit more about machines they use to build houses.

After break we moved on to building 4 metre high tetrahedron! Tetra means four and hedron means face, so we were building a giant pyramid that had four faces. We were involved in a lot of team work, which was important for health and safety. We checked our building for quality, each step of the way.

The activity ended with a demolition. We enjoyed pulling it apart again, although it was a little sad to see it gone. I thought the activity was a lot of fun!
