Christmas in France

19 Dec

We have been learning about Christmas in France in our French lesson today. Here are some interesting facts about French Christmas.

*Père Noël (Santa) brings children presents.

* Some children receive a small gift on the 6th December.

*Père Noël travels with Père Fouettard who tells him how each child has behaved during the year. Good children receive presents. Naughty children get no gifts.

*French children don’t just leave out stockings, they may also leave their shoes by the fireplace to be filled with gifts from Père Noël.
